Oulu DevLAB :: goes Green
For the academic year 2016 - 2017 the main focus areas are sustainability, green care and natural resources. DevLAB collects together students from different fields of study and creates interdisciplinary teams that develop a concept and create a demo. Students can earn up to 30 ECTS in a semester-long project. All LABs are taught in English and are full-time studies.
Project ideas cover following topics:
- natural resources, sustainability
- tourism in the surrounding region
- health and wellbeing
- cultural green care
- logistics and supply chains
The LAB is open to all 3rd and 4th year students from any field. If you are interested in learning in DevLAB, apply here. THE LAB EXPERIENCE
The DevLAB curriculum focuses on developing the 21st Century Skills of a Self-aware Future Professional.
The first part of the LAB focuses on rapid concept design using Design Thinking and learning the basics of working in the fields included in DevLAB. The next stage is dedicated to prototype and business development with Lean Startup. By working in an interdisciplinary team each student is refining the skills based in the role in the team. Each team in the LAB aims to create a workable demo. Teams work in a entrepreneurial-like mode and are supported by a group of coaches and tutors. Prototypes can take on a number of different forms such as applications or services.
Those who have completed the DevLAB can continue on to Product Path for one more semester. In Product Path, teams continue to develop their products, aiming for a more complete product or a service.
